Right now I'm in Nice, France, on holiday and taking advantage of the more casual culture of enjoying wine and beer as complements to food. Today I'm enjoying socca, a traditional Nicoise fried snack of chickpea flour, olive oil, and spices. I paired it with "Socca Biera", one of the few French IPAs that I've seen on offer. It's pretty light, with some hop notes but more on the crisper side. Very little pineiness and defintiely not juicy. I feel like a lot of European craft beers follow the same sort of format, adopting Belgian or German styles with a little twist. I'm not complaining at all, this was super tasty - just an observation. It went well with the socca and the view was great, too.
